COMMUNITY CARE
Compass loves to serve our community in places where churches don't usually go. We value the partnerships we've forged with public schools, state food distribution programs, and city/community charity events and activities. A few of the ongoing programs Compass is involved in are listed below. If you'd like to join one of our community care teams, contact Rachel Kahler at communitycare@compassbend.com.
TAKING IT TO THE STREETS
Compass is the distribution partner for Central Oregon's NeighborImpact organization. We distribute food and other needed items to selected areas and apartment complexes around Bend each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We meet at the Faith Christian Center parking lot right across from Pilot Butte Burger on Greenwood.

PILOT BUTTE MIDDLE SCHOOL ADOPTION
Compass has adopted the kids, teachers and administrators at Pilot Butte Middle School for the 2011-12 school year... and we love 'em! With the obvious needs (over 70% of the students at PBMS need government assistance for meals), there are lots of opportunities. On a monthly basis, we work with school administrators to define projects we can undertake, supplies we can give, and students we can help the most. We partner with the staff at PBMS to ensure their students are well resourced and prepared for a dynamic and comprehensive education.
RACing TO WIN the battles
The community of Bend is amazing when it comes to organizing races and events that raise money and bring awareness to worthy causes. Compass takes a special interest in these... and we love to show up in big numbers and do our best to partner with the great organizations who coordinate these events. Whether it's swimming, kayaking, running, walking, skiing, paddle boarding... it doesn't matter... we're ready! We're excited for the opportunity to join our friends and neighbors for things we all care about and can greatly impact.
fill the truck
On a regular basis, we park a U-Haul truck right outside the front doors of our church on a Sunday morning. We let our church family know in advance, and everyone brings coats, shoes, clothes and other necessary items to "fill the truck". We distribute the items to Bend's Community Hope Chest, several Family Access Network (FAN) coordinators, and other worthy organizations who supply children and families thoughout Central Oregon.
