About Us

rachel kahler
Rachel was born in Portland, OR, but was raised on the mission field in Indonesia.  After living on Java, Kalimantan, and what was then called Irian Jaya (it’s called West Papua now), her family moved back to Portland the summer before Rachel turned 13.  The family made one more big move and settled in Bend the following year.  After moving around all her life and traveling all over the world as an adult, Rachel has decided that Central Oregon is one of the most beautiful places on earth and never wants to live anywhere else.

Rachel is married to Adam Kahler, and they have one daughter, Alahna, who was born in November of 2007.  Shortly before Alahna was born, Rachel took a long hiatus from work, and has just recently returned to work full time.

Rachel is so thankful to have found a home at Compass.  The loving community, focus on the Bible, and ministries to believers and non-believers are all very important to her.  After many years of not attending church at all, Rachel only started attending last June because her daughter was begging to go to Sunday School.  She was thrilled when she rediscovered God’s love and forgiveness.
