Karen was born and raised in Bend. She met her husband Troy in high school when they worked at the same restaurant. They went to rival high schools (the only 2 high schools in Bend at that point) but that didn’t keep them apart. Neither could a move from the area and a long distance relationship… because 5 years later, in 1991, they got married.
Karen & Troy have five kids that keep them very busy: Ben, Ezra, Emma, Amanda and Rebekah. They love watching the uniqueness of each child. Although they are thankful for all of their kids, they are a little extra thankful for their last one. Troy was diagnosed with cancer, but it was caught early and treated quickly --- so he did not have to go through chemo or radiation, which could have stopped them from having more children.
Karen & Troy feel it's so important for families to be involved in a church family and to reach out to those around them. They are thankful that Compass provides so many opportunities to lift people up, encourage them, and strengthen them. They are excited to see how God is using their family at Compass.

I love books. However, I mainly spend my reading time reading kids books or parenting books.

People I would love to spend the day with:
Troy - we are always so busy and never have enough time together. My Mom - she died 9 years ago. I would like for her to know my kids and for them to know her. I miss her.
