About Us
Ken & Janet Brooks
Ken & Janet serve in many ministries at Compass and bring that expertise to the Ministry Advisory Team. Janet originally met Ken when she was 3 years old. He was running though his parents house and she remembers thinking, “He’s cute!” They both laugh that they were “betrothed at birth.” Their parents were best friends and Ken is named after Janet’s dad and her brother is named after Ken’s dad. Ken grew up in Salem and says, “I was a juvenile delinquent in my early teens.” But he joined the Marine Corp in 1966 and “That fixed me!” Ken married Janet in 1970 and they have two grown children – Adam (who’s married to Lisa) and Sarah (who’s married to Shawn). Ken is an avid outdoorsman – who fishes & hunts whenever he can. But he and Janet love most the time they spend with their kids and five grandkids. Janet was a stay-at-home mom for many years, but also dabbled in the cosmetics business. After a year-long cross-country motorcycle trip, Ken and Janet returned to start their own business… and Janet became “Queen of the Office.” Janet loves “all things theater” and never misses a chance to play with her grandkids.
